Terms of use
Draft of 5 October 2026. [Date of the approved version.]
1. The service
Qumasc is operated by Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC), [postal address]. It fetches data from external providers on your request, merges them into datasets and keeps them for a limited time for preview, download and sharing. It is offered for [research, education and public-interest work — scope and eligible users to be confirmed].
By creating an account you accept these terms and confirm that you have read the privacy notice.
2. Your account
- An account is for one person. Give your real name and an e-mail address you can read.
- Keep your password, recovery codes, API keys and provider keys secret. You are responsible for what is done with them. Use two-factor authentication; administrators and data stewards must.
- Tell us at once at [contact address] if you suspect that someone else uses your account, and change your password.
3. Acceptable use
You must not:
- try to get around quotas, rate limits, request budgets, access controls or the licence checks of the service;
- use another person's account or provider keys, or let others use yours;
- create accounts automatically or in bulk;
- put an unreasonable load on the service or on the data providers, or probe the service for weaknesses without the written consent of PSNC;
- use the service for unlawful purposes or to process data you are not allowed to process.
4. Data providers, licences and attribution
- Sources that need an account (for example the Climate Data Store, Earth Data Hub and Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem) are read with the keys you store yourself. You must have your own account with the provider, accept its terms and licences, and stay within its limits. Requests of your jobs count towards your quota there.
- Some sources require that you accept their licence in Qumasc before a job can use them. Your acceptance is recorded.
- Every dataset states the licence that results from its sources, with the obligations and the attribution text. When you use, share or publish a dataset or results derived from it, you must comply with these licences, give the required attribution and respect restrictions such as non-commercial use or share-alike (for example the ODbL of OpenStreetMap data).
- The service may refuse to share a dataset publicly when the licences of its sources do not allow it.
5. Your datasets
- You are responsible for the recipes you submit and for how you use and share the results.
- Datasets are kept for the validity period of your group and then deleted; you are told in the portal (notifications on the dashboard) before a dataset expires and may extend it up to the maximum of your group. Keep your own copy of anything you need longer.
- When you share a dataset with other users, groups or the public, they can see and download it until you revoke the share or the dataset expires.
6. Quotas
Each group has quotas: storage, number of datasets, running and queued jobs, computing time and download volume per month. Your current use is shown in the portal. Jobs that would exceed a quota are refused. PSNC may change the quotas, with notice for reductions [notice period to be confirmed].
7. No warranty
The service is provided as it is, without any warranty of availability, correctness, completeness or fitness for a purpose. The data come from external providers and may contain errors or gaps; every dataset carries a quality record and notes on the data, which you should read before you rely on it. [Limitation of liability to be worded by the legal department under Polish law.]
8. Suspension and end of the account
- You may delete your account at any time on your account page; what happens then is described in the privacy notice.
- PSNC may disable an account that breaks these terms or endangers the service or the data providers, and will tell the user why, unless this would harm an investigation [wording to be confirmed].
- PSNC may end the service or parts of it; users will be told in good time [notice period to be confirmed] so that they can download their datasets.
9. Changes of these terms
PSNC may change these terms. The new version is published here with its date and users are told by e-mail before it applies; if you do not agree, you can delete your account. [Procedure to be confirmed.]
10. Law and contact
These terms are governed by Polish law [to be confirmed]. Questions: [contact address].
